How to run a great online workshop
A format for workshops that people complete and remember.
Define a concrete output
A workshop should end with something participants made — a plan, a draft, a prototype. Define that output before you design the agenda.
Mix short talks and hands-on time
Alternate ten minutes of explanation with fifteen minutes of work. Use breakout rooms for small groups, and visit them to help.
Use shared tools
The whiteboard works well for brainstorming; screen sharing helps you demonstrate. Share templates in chat so people can start quickly.
Keep the group small enough
Interaction drops as groups grow. If the audience is large, run the opening as a webinar and send people into smaller groups for the exercises.
End with sharing and next steps
Ask each group to show their work, collect feedback and give one next step. Send the saved whiteboard and templates after the session.
